Program Description

The Network Administration program provides students with a comprehensive view into the complex world of IT infrastructure and network maintenance. Through this program, students will develop an extensive set of knowledge on everything from computer hardware and server deployment, to network maintenance and security. Our skill focused program includes hands on experience with enterprise Cisco hardware, and advanced tasks in MCSA Microsoft Server 2012.

Students receive the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) A+ certification, upon completion of this program. This certification allows graduates to be employable in entry level positions, installing, maintaining, customizing, and operating personal computers for clients. They will find positions in a variety of IT and server administrator roles.

Standard Admission

Students must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Alberta High School Diploma, verified by transcript, or non-Alberta equivalent OR
  • General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D) and ALL of the following criteria:
  • Successful interview with school administration
  • Canadian Language Benchmark of 5 if students' first language is not English

Mature Admission

Students must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Successful result on Wonderlic test with passing score of 20
  • Successful interview with school administration
  • Canadian Language Benchmark of 5 if students' first language is not English


*Canadian Language Benchmark of 6 required for both standard and mature admissions if student's first language is not English.*

Course Components

Course Description: Based on CompTIA A+ 220-1001 curriculum. This module will include maintenance, repair, and upgrade both hardware and networking of personal computers. 

Course Description:  Based on CompTIA A+ 220-1001 curriculum. This module will focus on configuration of various device operating systems, including Windows, Linux, Chrome OS, Android and iOS. Administer client-based and cloud-based (SaaS) softwares will also be included in the curriculum.

Course Description: This module focus on building and configuring and troubleshooting Cisco devices, router and switches, as well as, implementing IP Address schemes. 

Students will have hands on experience with Catalyst switches, routers, Cisco Packet Tracers.

Course Description: This module will prepare students to implementin Windows Server 20212 R2 infrastructure with installation and configuration of servers in a enterprise environment. Includes one of three mandatory exams to receive MCSA: Windows Server 2012 R2 Certification.

 

Course Description: This module will build on the student's ability to implement, manage, maintain, and provide provisioning services in a Windows Server 2012 environment.

Includes one of three mandatory exams to receive MCSA: Windows Server 2012 R2 Certification.

Course Description: This module will include advnaced configuration tasks such as fault tolerance, certificate services and identity federation, for Windows Server 2012. Includes the final mandatory exams to receive MCSA: Windows Server 2012 R2 Certification.

Course Description: This module covers new features and functionality in Windows Servers 2012. This includes more advanced topics in Dynamic Access Control (DAC), failover clustering, Micosoft Online Backup and changes with Active Directory and PowerShell. 

Course Description: This module will teach students to proactively implement sound security protocols to mitigate security risks and quickly respond to security issues.
