Network Administrator Diploma Description

The ABM College Network Administration Diploma program provides students with a comprehensive view into the complex world of IT infrastructure and network maintenance. Through this program, students will develop an extensive set of knowledge on everything from computer hardware and server deployment, to network maintenance and security. Our skill focused program includes hands on experience with enterprise Cisco hardware, and advanced tasks in MCSA Microsoft Server 2012.

Graduates receive the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) A+ certification upon completion of this program. This certification allows them to be employable in a wide variety of positions installing, maintaining, customizing, and operating computer and server networks.

Admission Requirements

Standard Admission

Students must meet ONE of these criteria:
Alberta High School Diploma or equivalent with minimum score of 65% in English 30-1 on verified transcript
General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.), plus successful interview with ABM College Administration, and if student’s first language is not English, Canadian Language Benchmark of 5 with SLE Language Evaluation Test (Accuplacer)

Mature Admission

Students must meet ALL of these criteria:
1. At least 18 years of age prior to admission
2. Score of 20 or higher on Entrance Exam (Scholastic Wonderlic)
3. Successful interview with ABM College Administration
4. If student’s first language is not English, Canadian Language Benchmark of 5 with SLE Language Evaluation Test (Accuplacer)

Network Administrator Course Components

Course Description: This course is based on the CompTIA A+ 220-1001 curriculum, and teaches students how to maintain, repair, and upgrade both the hardware and networking of personal computers.

Course Description: This course furthers exploration of the CompTIA A+ 220-1001 curriculum, with a focus on configuration of various device operating systems such as Windows, Linux, Chrome OS, Android and iOS. Administer client-based and cloud-based (SaaS) software is also included.

Course Description: Students learn about building, configuring and troubleshooting Cisco devices, router and switches, as well as implementing IP Address schemes. Students will have hands on experience with Catalyst switches, routers, and Cisco Packet Tracers.

Course Description: Students are prepared for implementing Windows Server 20212 R2 infrastructure with installation and configuration of servers in a enterprise environment. Includes one of three mandatory exams to receive MCSA Windows Server 2012 R2 Certification.


Course Description: Students build the ability to implement, manage, maintain, and provide provisioning services in a Windows Server 2012 environment. Includes one of three mandatory exams to receive MCSA Windows Server 2012 R2 Certification.

Course Description: This course includes advanced configuration tasks such as fault tolerance, certificate services and identity federation, for Windows Server 2012. Includes the final mandatory exams to receive MCSA Windows Server 2012 R2 Certification.

Course Description: Students explore new features and functionality in Windows Servers 2012. This includes more advanced topics in Dynamic Access Control (DAC), failover clustering, Microsoft Online Backup and changes with Active Directory and PowerShell.

Course Description: Students learn to proactively implement and monitor sound security protocols to mitigate security risks and quickly respond to security issues.

Course Description: Students gain practical and hands-on experience to apply the knowledge and skills learned in class to real-world experiences in a professional capacity.

Course Description: This course helps students explore and understand the role of communication in professional business settings. Attention is given to workplace culture, interpersonal and team communication, technology, professional presentations, research, meetings, and professional writing grounded in communication and business theory.

Course Description: Students work with a professional career counsellor to develop and optimize a professional resume to put forward for employers. Additional support in job searching, interview techniques, and other career transition skills are offered to ensure students have the best possible work prospects.
