ABM College Tuition Fee & Refund Policy

 

1. Quality and Affordable Education

ABM College strives to provide quality education at an affordable cost, and our tuition fees remain among the most affordable and worthwhile investments among private Canadian career colleges. Our financial aid officers are happy to assist ABM College students in managing payment plans, and providing details on the various scholarships offered by ABM College, governments, and other sources. Please contact our team for any financial assistance information and guidance you need. ABM College offers flexible payment plan options upon request only. Students on a flexible payment plan must still follow the tuition obligations outlined below and as guided by section 17 of the Alberta Student Contract of the Private Career College Branch of Alberta Ministry of Advanced Education.

2. No Hidden Fees*

All students are fully informed about their total program fees and complete tuition payment requirements during their admission process. ABM College tuition costs include charges for program fees, registration fees, instruction, course materials, equipment, required books, and student services. Some incidental costs associated with student requirements for admissions, practicums and graduation are not included. Refer to your program requirements for full details.

3. Financial Assistance

Financial assistance information is available from the financial aid officer at your nearest ABM College campus. Our financial aid officers are happy to assist students in managing payment plans, providing details on the various scholarships offered by ABM College and the Canadian government, and to help with student loan applications. 4. Tuition Fee Schedule

5. Tuition Payments

Students are required to pay a registration fee of $500 at the time of signing their student contract. Students are required to pay their tuition fees in full on or before the first day of the start of the program.
Tuition and fee payments are only processed once the student’s program begins. Payments may be paid through government student loan disbursements, private student loans, or by cash, cheque, Interac, Visa, Mastercard, and bank transfer. Sorry, all other payment methods are not accepted at this time.

6. Tuition Refunds

Refunds must be requested within 30 days of withdrawal. The appropriate form must be completed and submitted to the Office of the Registrar to validate the tuition refund request. All tuition fees, payments and refunds are assessed in accordance with the guidelines outlined by the Private Career College Branch of Alberta Ministry of Advanced Education. Each student must sign an Alberta Student Enrolment Contract at the time of enrolling in their program. The amount of tuition eligible to be refunded to the student depends on when their Alberta Student Enrolment Contract is terminated. The contract is terminated when the student withdraws or is expelled from their program. If students are receiving student financial assistance, they must notify their funding source of their withdrawal or the termination of their student contract.

6.1 Types of refunds

(a) After contract is signed:

If you choose to cancel your contract on or before the 4th business day after you signed it, ABM College will refund any tuition fees you've paid.

(b) Before your program start date:

ABM College will refund your tuition fees if:
- You terminate your contract before the 4-day cooling off period
- ABM College terminates your contract before your program start date
- Your program does not start by the agreed upon date and you choose to terminate your contract

(c) After your program start date:

You may be entitled to a tuition refund if your contract is cancelled after your program start date. The amount is based on how much of the program you have completed.

(d) If you've paid all of the tuition for the program and completed:

- less than 10% of your program: your refund is at minimum 75% of your tuition
- more than 10% but less than 50% of your program: your refund is at minimum 40% of your tuition
- more than 50% of your program: ABM College will not provide you with a refund

(e) If you haven’t yet paid all of the tuition for the program and completed:

- less than 10% of your program: ABM College is entitled to up to 25% of the total cost of tuition
- more than 10% but less than 50% of your program: ABM College is entitled to up to 60% of the total cost of tuition
- more than 50% of your program: ABM College is entitled to up to 100% of the total cost of tuition

6.2 Refund eligibility

(a) Incidental fees:

ABM College does not refund incidental fees, such as: textbooks, lesson materials, supplies, printing, parking, equipment, etc.

(b) Completed over half of your program:

If you have completed more than 50% of your program, ABM College will not refund your tuition.

(c) Changes to program delivery:

How your program is delivered to you may change without penalty, provided the training you receive meets the requirements outlined in your signed contract. If your lessons are being supplied, marked and returned to you (such as through correspondence), then you are still able to complete your program and are therefore not eligible for a refund.

(d) Refund payments:

ABM College will make all eligible refund payments to whomever paid your tuition fees. This could be:
- directly to you, if you paid for your tuition
- your lender, if you have an outstanding student loan
- a government, agency or person who paid for you to complete the program
If the refund does not cover the full amount of money you borrowed or were provided to complete the program, you are responsible for arranging to pay the remaining amount.

7. Outstanding Fees

Failure to pay tuition or other fees due to ABM College is considered a debt to the college. If any outstanding fees are not paid in full after ABM College has provided written warning, students may be subject to expulsion. If outstanding fees are not paid by the time of graduation, the college may withhold a student’s credential. If outstanding fees are not paid after written warning is provided, the debt is subject to further actions including but not limited to, being sent to a collections agency, and a negative rating reported to your credit bureau.
