News & Events

Canada is a multicultural land where people from all over the world are welcomed. Due to its multicultural policy, newcomers from different backgrounds are living together. Every year, a set number of people are welcomed as Permanent residents, students, and foreign workers.

As we head towards the end of 2025, this year, Canada aims to welcome:

395,000
Permanent Residents
305,900
New Students
needing study permits
367,750
New Temporary Workers
needing work permits

According to a Pew Research Center study, Canadians predominantly view immigrants as a strength rather than a burden. This perspective is central to Canada’s multicultural identity, which helps address its aging demographic and drives economic growth.

Welcoming Week Canada – September 12-21, 2025

Communities across Canada are celebrating Welcoming Week from September 12-21, 2025. It is a global initiative that highlights the power of inclusion. It’s a great way of bringing newcomers or communities together and sharing their cultural values. This not only strengthens the connections but also makes everyone feel valued and supported. No one pressures you to follow restrictive limitations. It’s your choice, whatever you like.

Ways to Welcome New Members to Your Community

  • Try to interact with newcomers and make them feel it’s their country too now, and share information about the community. It will be easy for them to understand the community.
  • Try to ask their names and never hesitate to ask for pronunciation if it’s hard for you to pronounce. Try your best to pronounce it properly.
  • Your help will always be appreciated. If you can help by introducing newcomers to your friends and colleagues with a similar background.
  • If you grow fruits or vegetables at your house, try to give them to your new neighbours, this will help grow your friendship.
  • Invite new immigrants to the potlucks, birthday parties, especially kids’ parties, and if they have kids, it would be easy for them to mingle with your kids and other community kids.

Always be open to learn something new. Everyone has something to teach you.
