BM College reaches out to the broader community at Fiesta Filipino 2021.

ABM College attended Fiesta Filipino in partnership to support the Filipino community across Calgary. Not only was ABM College there to uplift the event, but the college was also the title sponsor.

Staff at the ABM booths provided information to attendees about their many courses that can help people in the Filipino community and other diverse populations get the education and experience they need to further their careers

“ABM College is here today because we would like to invite all people, multicultural, to our college, to study, further their education, and we’re here to see their success and help them,” said admissions advisor, Pauline Morrison.

“The Filipino [community] is very important to us, they’re a very big community, and we would like to welcome them.”

Attendees who signed up to enroll for any of ABM College’s health, business, or technology programs at the festival received a $500 scholarship. There was also a draw for one individual each day to win a laptop.

As part of the Fiesta Filipino activities, ABM Massage Therapy students gave out free massages to the festival's patrons.

“It's important for us as students to come out in this kind of activity, for us to promote, so for people who are interested, they could enrol in the college,” said Caroline Eulalio, a massage therapy student.

Lisa Jonas, a massage therapy instructor at ABM, expressed that providing massages and information can alleviate stress for newcomers.

“Some people aren’t aware, especially those who might be new to the country, of where they can go to enhance their career. So us being here, being available to talk to and answering any of their questions, alleviates that stress and tension and points them in the right direction,” she said.

“It’s great for them to come down and see what works best for them.”

She also talked about why it’s beneficial for current ABM massage therapy students to attend and give clients relaxing massages.

“They’re getting hands-on training, which is going to help them in the future. As an instructor, I'm able to see what they're capable of, enhance their skills, and just be a good role model and push them to be the best that they can be.”

Fiesta Filipino Calgary took place September 4th and 5th, on the labour day long weekend. Watch ABM College's coverage of the event here:

ABM College also attended Philippine Calgary Summer Festival 2021 at Prairie Winds Park in northeast Calgary on Sunday September 12th, offering massages, incentives, and more.
