At ABM College, we believe learning extends far beyond the classroom. A key part of that mission is welcoming insightful leaders from our community to share their experiences and perspectives with our staff and students. Recently, we were thrilled to host MLA Lizette Tejada from Calgary-Klein.

A lifelong Calgarian and dedicated community organizer, she works tirelessly on the issues that matter most: the high cost of living, healthcare, and education. As the NDP Shadow Minister for Immigration and Multiculturalism and the Official Opposition Critic for Anti-Racism, Diversity & 2SLGBTQ+ Issues, she brings a profound, ground-level understanding of the challenges and aspirations within our community.

During her visit, Lizette shared her inspiring journey—from her roots as the daughter of hardworking immigrant parents and her volunteer work with the Calgary Women’s Centre and YWCA, to her current role advocating for families. Her firsthand perspective on housing, supporting newcomers, and advocating for equitable access to services was both powerful and enlightening.

Engaging with guest speakers like her is a cornerstone of the ABM College experience. These interactions provide invaluable, real-world insights that directly connect our community to the prospective fields our students are entering. It’s more than a welcome; it’s an active dialogue that inspires and informs our collective mission.

Thank you, Lizette, for sharing your time, your story, and your unwavering commitment to making a difference. Your visit has left a lasting impression on our entire ABM team.
