What is a Unit Clerk?

Table of contents

Unit Clerks assist physicians and other health-care providers. Unit Clerks play a crucial role in managing information flow in a hospital nursing unit. They are often the fist point of contact the patient sees before a a doctor. Therefore excellent customer service skills are imperative. They are responsible for greeting and directing visitors and patients. Unit Clerks will answer and direct incoming calls. They transcribe and process physician orders and maintain patient records and charts, as well as other various administrative duties.
