Imagine yourself as an employer – if you had two applicants applying for the same position with similar skills and educational backgrounds, but you personally knew one of the applicants, who would you hire? Chances are you’d hire the applicant who you knew personally.
Although this scenario is entirely imaginative, it still signifies the importance of networking, as it provides job applicants a competitive advantage over other applicants.Keeping this in mind, ABM College has been organizing a monthly event called the “Employer Talk Series” where Career Services invites an employer to the College every month to speak about their company mission, and the positions the company is currently hiring students for. Most importantly, our students are given a chance to network with these employers to build a professional relationship with them.
Over the course of the past few months, we’ve invited a number of different employers to speak to our students. Some of them include The Good Samaritan Society and Swan Evergreen Village. They’ve visited and given tips to our students, while also collecting student resumes!
Promed Staffing Solutions will be visiting ABM College on July 14 from 11:30AM to 12:30PM, and again on July 15 from 5:30PM to 6:30PM in the ABM College Conference Hall. They will be speaking to current and past Health Care Aide and Medical Office Assistant Students about their company mission, while also providing information on the job application process.Dress professional, bring your resumes, and take advantage of this opportunity to mingle with employers!
