Civil Litigation is a legal dispute by two or more parties that are seeking money damages rather than criminal sanctions. Civil litigation can be divided into seven stages: investigation, pleadings, discovery, pre-trial, trial, settlement and appeal. Most lawsuits don't pass through all these stages and are settled prior to trial. The duration of law suits can range any where from several months to several years.
Civil Litigation just so happens to be one of the many courses covered in the Legal Assistant program at ABM College.
